Students Welfare Programmes

Earn while you learn programs
Around 25 rural poor students are helped to meet their academic expenses through these programs which include artificial flower making, preparation of grape and mango juice, fish pickle preparation, preparation of washing powder, and making school bags using resin cloth. Through these programs, the college trains its students to enable them to generate additional income for themselves. The college has the necessary infrastructure for conducting these programs.

Sensitizing our students to social concerns

Even though most of the students themselves require others' sympathy and help, they are made sensitive to the concerns of the different sectors of society. Our students visit the various homes for the disabled, located at Nazareth every month. The homes they visit are:

  • Home for the mentally retarded children.

  • Home for the deaf.

  • Home for the aged.

Home for children, affected by AIDS, at Thailapuram. So our aim is not only to make our students better-skilled professionally but also to shape them into better human beings by instilling in them a sense of concern for the poor and the people in distress.

Community Welfare Programmes

  • Through these programs, we make this institution relevant to the needs of the community. These programs include offering a scholarship to poor students of not only our institution but also other institutions.

  • Meeting the medical expenses of the poor people of this area, suffering from chronic diseases. Helping the aged poor in villages through a program that involves monthly visits and contributions by our students to the aged poor. A nearby village is chosen for this program and 100 aged poor people are benefited (100 X Rs.300). Amount spent every month Rs.30,000/-

  • Also through our students, we help a few aged diabetic patients by meeting their dialysis expenses every month. In the year 2005-2006, with the financial assistance from SAC an NGO in Bangalore, we offered free education including free food and accommodation, to 25 children from Tsunami affected areas incurring an expenditure of Rs.12,000/- per child. (Total 3 lakhs). All are well placed.

  • We write to various orphanages and homes informing them of the concessions we offer to their children in the fees structure. Also, we assure them placement after the completion of the course of study.

  • Providing education for school drop-outs, without age restriction. Every year 10-15 students, mostly school dropouts, are admitted in the non-formal courses – Nursing and medical lab technology. We issue them our certificates and get them employed. Some are aged more than 30.

Computer Lab for disabled children

With the help of a philanthropist, Mr. Godfrey Draviam, Georgia, U.S.A we have established a separate computer lab on the ground floor for the use of the disabled children studying in our institution as well as in other educational institutions at Nazareth. We offer free computer training to them.
